The recoil starter is a self-contained pull-start assembly that transfers cranking force to the engine via the starter housing, cord pulley, recoil spring, pull cord and handle. When the unit fails due to a snapped cord, broken spring, seized pulley or cracked housing, replacing the complete assembly is the quickest way to get the machine back in service.
