Description
The Gasket Genius water pump gasket is suited to Yamaha, Mercury and Mariner 25 HP - 70 HP outboard engines. It seals the water pump housing around the impeller, the rubber vane component that circulates cooling water through the engine. As this gasket deteriorates, compresses or gets damaged, the housing seal weakens, letting cooling water bypass the pump chamber instead of being pushed through the cooling circuit — a drop in water pump efficiency that can leave the engine running hot. Replacing the gasket whenever the water pump is opened for servicing or impeller replacement helps get the pump sealing and cooling properly again.
