Description
The Gasket Genius upper casing gasket is designed for Yamaha 4A, 4B, 5C, 4 HP - 5 HP outboard engines. It fits between the upper casing (driveshaft housing) and the powerhead, forming the seal that keeps exhaust gases and cooling water properly directed as they pass from the engine into the lower unit. If this gasket wears down, compresses or gets damaged, the joint between the powerhead and upper casing can no longer seal tightly, which lets exhaust or water leak out at this point and disrupts normal exhaust and cooling flow through the unit. Whenever the upper casing is separated from the powerhead during a service, fitting a new gasket here restores that seal.
