Description

Bumper spike / felling dog fits Stihl 017, 018, 021, 023, 025, MS170, MS180, MS210, MS230 and MS250 chainsaws. The bumper spike is the toothed metal bracket mounted on the front of the chainsaw body, just behind the guide bar. When bucking or felling, the operator presses the spike into the timber to create a fixed pivot point, allowing the saw to be rotated through the cut with greater control and less physical effort. A cracked or broken bumper spike removes this pivot point, making heavier cuts harder to control and increasing operator fatigue. Replacing it restores full felling dog function and allows the saw to be used correctly during demanding cutting work.
