Description
The Gasket Genius water pump gasket fits Kiam Sherwood G701 and G702 marine inboard engine water pumps. It seals the water pump housing around the impeller, the rubber vane component that circulates cooling water through the engine. Once this gasket becomes deteriorated, compressed or damaged, it can no longer hold a tight seal, allowing cooling water to bypass the pump chamber instead of being pushed through the cooling circuit. This drop in water pump efficiency can lead to the engine running hot. Fitting a new gasket whenever the water pump is opened for servicing or impeller replacement helps ensure the pump seals properly and cooling flow is restored.
