Bumper spike / felling dog fits Husqvarna 362, 365, 371, 372 and 390 chainsaws. The bumper spike is a toothed metal plate mounted on the front of the saw body, between the front handle and the guide bar. It is pressed into the wood during felling and bucking to create a fixed pivot point, allowing the operator to rotate the saw for controlled, precise cuts with reduced kickback risk. On these professional-grade saws, the bumper spike sees heavy use and can crack or break under repeated impact. A missing or damaged bumper spike removes this control point and makes accurate felling and bucking cuts more difficult and less safe. Fitting a replacement restores full use of the felling dog technique during operation.
