Description
Flywheel Woodruff key fits 4500 (45cc), 5200 (52cc) and 5800 (58cc) Chinese chainsaws and also Plantiflex, BBT, B&Q, Silverline, Sanli, Whitemoss, Skatco, Eckman, Timbertech, Tarus and MT-9999 chainsaws. The Woodruff key is the small semi-circular metal key that locates the flywheel in the precise rotational position on the crankshaft taper, ensuring the ignition magnets pass the ignition coil at exactly the right moment relative to piston position. It is engineered to shear under sudden impact load — protecting the crankshaft and flywheel from damage when the saw strikes a hard object or the chain snags. Once sheared, the flywheel shifts on the taper, throwing ignition timing out and typically causing a complete no-spark condition or very hard starting. Fitting a new Woodruff key and re-seating the flywheel correctly restores accurate ignition timing and reliable engine starting.
