Fuel tank cap fits Hecht 947, 957. Replacing part number 947000183. The fuel tank cap seals the petrol tank filler neck between refuelling sessions, preventing fuel from spilling during transport and stopping debris from entering the tank. Most fuel tank caps on this class of saw also incorporate a small breather valve that allows air into the tank as fuel is consumed — a cap with a blocked or failed breather causes the tank to develop a vacuum, restricting fuel flow to the carburettor and causing the engine to lose power or cut out during extended use. A cracked or missing cap also creates a fuel leak and fire risk.
