Bumper spike / felling dog fits Hecht 947, Makita DCS460, DCS461, DCS500, DCS501, DCS4600, DCS5000, DCS5001, DE5045 and Dolmar PS-460, PS-500, PS-4600, PS-4605, PS-5000, PS-5105 chainsaws, replacing part numbers 947000077 and 181250011. The bumper spike is a toothed metal plate mounted at the front of the saw body, between the front handle and the guide bar. It is pressed into the wood during felling and bucking to create a fixed pivot point, allowing the operator to rotate the saw for controlled, precise cuts with reduced kickback risk. A missing or damaged bumper spike removes this control point and makes accurate felling and bucking cuts more difficult and less safe.
