The contact spring is the small <strong>metal spring within the throttle switch shaft assembly<\/strong> that maintains <strong>electrical contact between the switch and the ignition circuit<\/strong>. When the spring is <strong>fatigued, deformed or broken<\/strong>, the switch may fail to ground the ignition correctly, resulting in the engine being impossible to stop or difficult to start.
