It reseals the crankcase, cylinder and exhaust muffler joints — the points most likely to leak once gaskets harden or compress with age. A leak at the crankcase or cylinder usually means rough idle and lost power, while a failing muffler gasket lets exhaust escape at the joint. Since these three areas tend to get opened up together during a service, one set covers them all.
