STIHL 042 042AV 048 048AV Complete Gasket Set

The Gasket Genius gasket set is built for Stihl 042, 042AV, 048 and 048AV chainsaws, containing 1x crankcase gasket and 2x cylinder gasket. These sit at the joint between the crankcase and cylinder, keeping the crank chamber airtight so the two-stroke engine can pull in and compress its fuel-air charge correctly. With use and heat, this seal will eventually harden, thin out or compress, and once it can no longer do its job, air starts leaking into the crank chamber where it shouldn’t. That kind of leak tends to show up as a rough or hunting idle, hesitation when you open the throttle, or the saw simply becoming harder to start. When you’re splitting the crankcase or lifting off the cylinder for any reason, putting in fresh gaskets here is what keeps that seal tight afterwards.
